The nomination has delivered business improvement by enabling business to refine the way they operate, based upon assured qualitative cultural performance information. This nomination has made a significant and positive difference to the business by allowing them to be able for the first time to assess their organisational culture and thereby understand the influence of human behaviours and the working environment on safety performance and thereby;
- Set the target vision and strategy to achieve a desired level of safety culture, aligned to business activities,
- Demonstrate tangible, quantifiable continuous improvement, Identify and communicate positive safety practices,
- Evaluate the affect of organisational change on safety performance.
The nomination is a true innovation. BAE Systems and Greenstreet-Berman developed the framework jointly through 2014/5 after an extensive external research phase
The Safety team ran a competition back in 2014 to identify a cultural assessment business partner. Greenstreet-Berman won the competition and have been genuine partners in the development of the framework ever since.
The Safety Culture Assessment Framework (SCAF) provides a common approach to assessing product and workplace safety culture. It applies a ten element model, developed with our partners Greenstreet Berman, to generate a comprehensive understanding of the safety culture within a given organisation or business unit area.
